{"id":1512,"date":"2020-04-24T08:54:46","date_gmt":"2020-04-24T08:54:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.angelaolaru.com\/?p=1512"},"modified":"2020-04-30T08:56:47","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T08:56:47","slug":"covid-19-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.angelaolaru.com\/en\/covid-19-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID -19 Pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Some thoughts and tips to strengthen the immune\nsystem<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Let&#8217;s think about&nbsp; health!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the beginning of this pandemic, all of us &#8211; including\ngovernments, politicians, and banks &#8211; have realized that <strong>health is the most\nimportant thing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right now, it seems, the health of every citizen on the planet\ndepends on scientific researchers and pharmaceutical laboratories. They are now\nworking around the clock to find a vaccine and medications to treat the virus\nCOVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless,&nbsp; since humans\nfirst settled and formed societies, we are exposed to an enormous amount of\nviruses, bacteria, and other opportunistic microbes every day. <strong>However, we\ndon&#8217;t always get sick, thanks to our Immune System.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite its aggressiveness and high level of contagion, most young\npeople, and middle-aged people and also a few older people (we will have to\nwait for the results of the different epidemiological studies planned to have\nspecific data), could have passed Covid 19 infection with almost no symptoms\nand no need for medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong>\nCDC<\/strong> &#8211; Official US Center for Disease Control &#8211; estimates that one in four\ninfected &#8211; <strong>25% of the population &#8211; has no symptoms<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is the difference between these 25% who have no\nsymptoms and those who end up in the ER<strong>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The answer is: the strength of your immune system<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know that the most vulnerable to COVID-19 are people\nwith low immunity. First of all the elderly, especially those who are medicated\nwith immunosuppressive drugs: for diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension,\nallergies, asthma, COPD, etc. However also younger people are vulnerable,\nespecially if they take immunosuppressive drugs such as statins, contraceptives\nand steroids, smoke, or have immunosuppressive conditions such as intestinal\ndysbiosis, metabolic diseases, hypertension, are under chronic or severe stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, there are millions of such people in the world\ntoday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So the real problem is not the virus, but the weakness of the\nimmune system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, <strong>our main priority should be to learn to strengthen\nand improve the immunity <\/strong>of the host so that no virus or other microbe can\nknock down its walls or, in case it has sneaked in, its possibility of\nspreading will be very low and its consequences will be least possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How can we strengthen our immune system?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The role of the immune system is to recognize, block and eliminate\nall&nbsp; attackers: viruses, bacteria,\npollutants, damaged cells, so that we can maintain internal physiological\nbalance and stay healthy. As I said, a few years ago in my TEDx talk, health\nmeans balance and vital energy: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UIRHSxs8gb8\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UIRHSxs8gb8<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Healthy people, in addition to having any symptoms or discomfort,\nhave a lot of vital energy. Vital energy is the most valuable thing that every\nhuman being can possess, without exceptions. It can not be bought. No one can\nproduce it except our own cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The power of the immune system is directly\nproportional to the vital energy. The more energy reserves we have, the better\nwe will overcome any type of viral or bacterial infection.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At times, I have compared the body to a large company, which\nproduces vital energy and has a large number of employees, called cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each cell has its function. We have dermal, muscle, bone,\ncartilage, vascular, blood, neurons, endocrine, exocrine, immune cells, etc.\nDepending on their specialization, cells are grouped into departments called\ntissues, organs, glands, and systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To carry out their function properly and produce a large amount of\nvital energy, all these cells need abundant, contaminant-free raw materials, in\nthe form of <strong>oxygen, water, nutrition and sunlight<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also need good administration, <strong>internal communication and\ngood leadership.<\/strong> These tasks belong to the administration of the company,\nrepresented by the central nervous system, especially <strong>the brain<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To run our great company, the brain needs to be informed at all\ntimes of what goes on inside and outside the body<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"184\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.angelaolaru.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/energia.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1691\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>All communication occurs through the spinal cord and spinal nerves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These could be compared to fiber optic cables, which pass through\nthe holes located between the vertebrae and go to each department of the\ncompany: skin, muscles, joints, mucosa, organs, tissues, cells. All fibers are\nbidirectional to guarantee communication from top to bottom and vice versa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have repeated it over and over again: the better aligned the\nvertebrae are, the better nerve signals will pass and the better the\ncommunication and the better decisions the brain will make.<em> <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The immune system is intimately connected and\nalways works in coordination with our central nervous system.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2008, Canadian chiropractors published a study, the results of\nwhich showed that a single spinal adjustment (specific spinal manipulation)\ncan significantly increase the production of a protein called Interleukin 2\n(IL-2), which regulates the activities of white blood cells: leukocytes. and\nlymphocytes, responsible for immune function. <em>Chiropr Osteopat. 2008 May 28; 16: 5. doi: 10.1186\n\/ 1746-1340-16-5. &#8220;Improvement of in vitro production of interleukin-2 in\nnormal subjects after a single spinal manipulation treatment<\/em>&#8220;. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/18507834\">https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/18507834<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Therefore, regular chiropractic spine\nmanipulation, helps increase our vital energy and also immune system function. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nevertheless watch out for vital energy thieves<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two factors that can deplete our life energy and weaken\nour immune systems faster than we can imagine: <strong>not getting enough sleep and\nprolonging psychological, mental and emotional stress<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to experts, we should sleep eight hours and ideally go to\nbed before midnight. At night, darkness activates the <strong>pineal gland<\/strong>,\nresponsible for producing <strong>melatonin,<\/strong> a very important hormone, that\ncontributes to <strong>regeneration of the nervous system of the immune system.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for prolonged psychological stress, is surely the most fearsome\nenergy thief because it has the password and direct access to our energy saving\naccount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suppose we manage to increase our vital energy reserves because: we\nare breathing uncontaminated air, drink a lot of water (bottled or filtered by\nosmosis), eat fresh food (possibly organic and unprocessed, take supplements,\ngo to the bathroom daily. Also, we control our posture and do daily exercises\nfor the spine, we sunbathe on the terrace or outdoors (with caution and precise\nguidelines) and get enough sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>However, we are in the midst of a global health\ncrisis due to the Covid -19 pandemic<\/strong>. Tens of thousands of\nthoughts are continually processed by our minds. Most are related to messages\nof alert, threat, danger and uncertainty, that we receive massively from the\nmedia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We feel vulnerable and naturally we are afraid. In fact, we have\nmany fears: fear that our loved ones or ourselves will become ill, fear of\nlosing a job, fear of a second wave or other outbreak before finding a vaccine\nor medication, fear of what may happen in the future, fear of losing control,\netc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fear causes our nervous system to become &#8220;<strong>oversympathetic<\/strong>&#8220;.\nIt\u2019s an internal state of alarm, which prepares the body to survive: &#8220;<strong>fight\nor flight<\/strong>\u201d (run away). Inside we are as if we were going to run, but we\ncannot do it physically. We are confined and running away is only imaginary.\nInevitably we feel helplessness, restlessness and frustration. <strong>We are under\npsychological stress.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A part of our brain acts reflexively and consumes energy\nincessantly to produce stress hormones: <strong>adrenaline, norepinephrine and\ncortisol<\/strong>, necessary to survive. This depletes our vital energy on the one\nhand and weakens our immune system on the other. <strong>Cortisol suppresses immune\ncells, <\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>called NK lymphocytes\n(Natural Killer), whose role is to defend us against viruses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, prolonged psychological stress leads to suppression of\nthe immune system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In summary: to strengthen our immune system, we need to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Breathe good quality air.<\/li><li>Drink more water, herbal teas &#8211; avoid all soft drinks &#8211; sugary or diet &#8211;<\/li><li>Eat healthy, avoiding refined sugars and processed foods.<\/li><li>Take antioxidant supplements: vitamins C, A, D3, E, B complex, Zinc, Omega 3 &#8211; always under the supervision of your doctor.<\/li><li>Avoid taking drugs long term unless absolutely necessary.<\/li><li>Sleep eight hours.<\/li><li>Keep the intestine clean &#8211; go to the bathroom daily and protect the intestinal flora (microbiome).<\/li><li>Take care of the spine, become aware of body postures and do 10 minutes of exercise every morning. <\/li><li>Try to reduce psychological stress: do 10-15 minutes of daily meditation, with 432 Hz music, conscious breathing exercises, observe and change your internal dialog, avoid alarming news.<\/li><li>Make an appointment for a chiropractic examination and treatment, as soon as possible.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some thoughts and tips to strengthen the immune system Let&#8217;s think about&nbsp; health!
